What is Thistle & Fleece?

Thistle & Fleece is a small-batch fiber studio creating hand-dyed yarn inspired by forgotten libraries, wild gardens, misty woods, and stories that linger long after the last page. Each skein is dyed slowly and intentionally, embracing the beauty of variation and the magic of making.
What does "dyed slowly" mean?

Every colorway is created in small batches using careful, hands-on dyeing methods. We take our time with each skein, allowing colors to develop naturally rather than rushing the process. This means every batch carries its own subtle character and charm. No two skeins are alike.
Do colors bleed?

Some richly saturated or deeply pigmented colorways may release a small amount of excess dye during the first wash. This is normal for hand-dyed yarn and does not typically affect the finished project when washed properly.
What yarn bases do you use?

Thistle & Fleece dyes professional mill-spun yarns from Wool2Dye4, selected for their softness, durability, and ability to showcase rich, layered color. Our acid dyes are currently from Dharma Trading Co. Although we do have plans to use natural dyes in the future as well.
How should I wash my finished items?

For best results:
Hand wash in cool or lukewarm water.
Use a gentle wool wash if desired.
Avoid excessive agitation.
Gently squeeze out excess water without wringing.
Lay flat to dry.
Taking a little extra care helps preserve the softness and color of your handmade pieces for years to come.
